Heartbreaking and epic.
The second season of House of the Dragon was an unexpected disappointment.
Viewers expected more than just one spectacular dogfight and slow-paced intrigue behind closed doors, and so the creators will have to do their best like never before to keep the audience interested.
If you look at George RR Martin’s book canon, you can assume that the most interesting stuff has been saved for the next installments.
Battle for the throat
The “black” dragon plane will defeat the Triarchy fleet in a narrow strait, but Vermax, shot down by a scorpion, and Jakeris, shot down by soldiers, will not return home.
Fall of King’s Landing
The entrance of Kohl’s army into Harrenhal would be a grave mistake, allowing Rhaenyra’s people to conquer the capital. Otto Hightower would be executed, his daughter Alicent would be spared, and Aegon II would escape.
Feeding fish
The combined forces of the Northerners and River Lords will cast their opponents into the waters of God’s Eye and finish off those who are not drowned. The next victory of the ‘blacks’ will be remembered in Westeros as the bloodiest.
Death of Christon Kohl
The same veterans will destroy the remnants of the army of the commander of the Royal Guard, and he himself will be killed under a hail of arrows, ignoring attempts to surrender.
Legendary battle
Aemond will force Daemon to oppose him, and so two dragons, Caraxes and Vhagar, will wrestle with a stranglehold across the memorable lake. The Cruel Prince, however, will be more cunning and, leaping from his saddle, will stab his opponent with a sword.
All four of them will perish, but Damon’s body will never be found.
The Betrayal of the Bastards
Fortune will turn against Rhaenyra when the ‘greens’ defeat her warriors at Tumbleton, and Ulf and Hugh side with the enemies and burn the city. As a result of further decisions, the new queen will also lose the support of the Velaryons.
Death of Rhaenyra’s youngest son
When angry citizens of the capital attempt to storm the Dragon’s Lair, not only will hundreds of people die, but so will Joffrey, who will attempt to save the young reptiles.
Second Battle of Tumbleton
The clash between Addam, the bastard of the Sea Serpent, and Daeron Hightower will result in many deaths – the aforementioned opponents, encouraged by Hugh and Ulf, as well as Tessarion, Vermithor and Seasmoke.
The Fall of the Greens
In anticipation of defeat, Rhaenyra and her surviving retinue will head to their ancestral castle, but Aegon II will be waiting for her there.
It’s unclear how many of these events will make it into Season 3, but the crew will certainly have their work cut out for them.
