Promotional materials may give the impression that this is just a story about achieving success, but everything is much more complicated and interesting.
The story revolves around beautician Hope Goldman, whose financial problems worsen when her archrival’s studio opens next door. But the real nightmare begins later, as the heroine is hunted.
The film could have been a comedy about two opponents finding common ground if it had not been based on real events.
The prototype for the character Elizabeth Banks was Dawn DaLuise, famous in celebrity circles.
In 2015, a jury found her not guilty of incitement to murder and released her after serving ten months in prison.
The victim filed counterclaims against the detractors and the neighborhood, claiming she lost all her savings and as a bonus, developed cancer that reached stage two without proper treatment.
Competition with another beautician led to this outcome, as in the movie.
Once Gabriel Suarez moved to the same area, DaLuise first punctured the tires of her car, and then began receiving calls from men advertising free sexual services.
Which she didn’t post.
Although Dawn went to the police to report the crime, the officers paid no attention to her complaints. But they quickly responded to the trumped-up accusation that they had hired killers for a competitor.
“The miscarriage of justice was insane. Authorities shot first and asked questions later,” she told People.
One of the two criminals who slandered the woman, it later turned out, was a member of the Shiny Ring gang, which robbed the homes of celebrities.
Ironically, Suarez also lost his restful sleep: he complained that his car keys had been stolen and his number had been left on an adult website.
It is still unclear who is the victim and who is the villain in this story.
