Doing something bad like that is also a kind of talent.
Not everyone knows it, but the cult series ‘Breaking Bad’ has a Colombian remake. Surprisingly, it only scored 2.3 on IMDb. For comparison: even reasonable Russian films usually score at least a 4. We’ll tell you why the Latin American version is bad.
What’s wrong with the series?
Actually almost everything. The whole plot seems like a cheap parody of the original. They didn’t bother with the hero’s name, and instead of the last name White they gave him the last name Blanco. Both are translated as ‘white’, just in different languages.
Blanco is also a chemistry teacher who lives a very normal life with his wife and children. But then the hero finds out that he has cancer. And in order to somehow provide for the family in case his head is no longer there, he decides to create his own laboratory for the production of forbidden substances. And he takes his former student Jose Miguel Rosas as his assistant. Incidentally, the names Rosas and Pinkman are also from the same company.

It seems that they took a very successful plot as a basis, what went wrong? Firstly, the series is actually just a frame-by-frame retelling of what everyone has already seen. Only the quality is much lower. Secondly, what the Breaking Bad team worked on for five years, the Colombians filmed in a year (and stretched it out over 60 episodes, cramming everything into one season). As a result, only everyday life and some climatic features differ. But in general, everything looks cheap and boring, the picture is not catchy, and the acting does not inspire confidence at all.

“When I first saw the trailer, I thought it was just a joke. I was sure this couldn’t be filmed seriously. But it still happened. I don’t understand at all why a remake of such a series is being made? Especially after it got so much recognition and awards.”says one of the reviews of the photo.
