It seems that surfer curls are no longer the trendiest hairstyle of the summer. Stars and influencers are increasingly opting for Nirvana waves, or rather Nirvana-style waves.
Nirvana-inspired waves are textured, tousled, swinging locks. Unlike surfer hairstyles, they give the look a bold edge. And the more haphazard they look, the better. And we’re sure you’ve already noticed that the main reference for the style is, of course, Kurt Cobain’s hairstyle.

According to hairstylist and Good Hair Day ambassador Samantha Cusick, Nirvana-inspired waves are “a textured style that mimics no-makeup makeup, but for the hair.” Your hair should look like you just went to bed with damp, loose strands after spritzing this salt spray. Or like you’re headed to a rock music festival.
The waves should not be too smooth and even – on the contrary, the more relaxed and even the rougher the better. They can be repeated using a round curling iron and hair mousse. And if you have curly strands, it will be enough to put gel on them and let them dry on their own.
By the way, this is not the first time that Kurt Cobain’s style has inspired the fashion industry. This spring we told you about his Nirvana haircut – Sydney Sweeney, Emma Stone and other stars became his adherents.
