It’s hard to plan anything in the crazy pace of life, but we recommend you learn from it. We are already thinking about which shows to go to in December to relax and get aesthetic pleasure. In addition, the first month of winter is always full of fuss, deadlines and urgent problems, so it is useful to find a few hours to relax (otherwise you can go crazy). We still have a new year ahead of us and we need to save energy to find gifts and feast.
There is also excitement about cultural leisure: Theater enthusiasts are already booking affordable tickets. We decided to help you find valuable productions so that you can get the best place in the hall. Theater journalist and author of the Telegram channel “Word of Glory” Vyacheslav Gerasimchuk has compiled especially for The Fashion Vibes a selection of the best performances with which you can brighten up the December weekend and feel the approach of the New Year.

“Don Quixote”, “Cabaret” and “Pushkin Tales” at the Theater of Nations
Don’t-miss performances include last season’s premiere of “Don Quixote” (Saturday, Dec. 13) by today’s hottest director, Anton Fedorov. But you need to go there as prepared as if you were going to an interview with a star. And if reading a parody of Cervantes’s chivalric romance sounds more than paltry to you, at least listen to the podcast on the theater’s website.

A must-see show at the Theater of Nations is “Cabaret” (Saturday, December 20). It will be beautiful, fun and painful. And if you watched the film with Liza Minnelli, do not rush to draw conclusions, Evgeny Pisarev’s version is completely different.

Finally, the long-running New Year’s hit of the Theater of Nations – “Pushkin’s Tales” (December 28, 29, 30) from the world famous director Robert Wilson, who passed away this year. This production is like a sip of champagne while the clock chimes with a smoldering piece of paper and a wish that will definitely come true. It is better to go with children, but adults will also find it interesting.

“Macbeth. Cabaret” at the Pushkin Theater
Pushkin Theater will delight you with its premiere on New Year’s Eve. The play “Macbeth. Cabaret”, based on William Shakespeare’s play, on December 28 and 29. The production will bring together different genres of stage language: music, contemporary art and plastic arts.

“The Little Humpbacked Horse” and “Do Not Abandon Your Planet” at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater

On December 14, the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater will host two performances of the musical play “The Little Humpbacked Horse”, based on the fairy tale of the same name. Audiences can expect bright costumes, a 12 meter long Whale Fish and special effects.
On December 20, the gift production “Don’t Abandon Your Planet” for adults and children will be exhibited with Konstantin Khabensky. Based on the story “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the performance will combine the professional performance of an actor with instrumental music for which the chamber ensemble “Moscow Soloists” and conductor Yuri Bashmet are responsible.
“The Three Musketeers” at the Mossovet Theater

Mossovet Theater has not yet released a poster for December but has already announced its plans. The premiere of artistic director Evgeniy Marcelli’s film “The Three Musketeers” awaits us there, too. Composer Maxim Dunaevsky is responsible for the musical accompaniment, and Egor Druzhinin is responsible for the choreography. Among the leading actors: Ekaterina Guseva and Olga Kabo.
“Lysistrata” and “Nathan the Wise” at Shalom Theater
The popular Jewish theater “Shalom” will delight you with the pacifist and life-affirming “Lysistrata” on December 13 and 14. The show is based on a play by Aristophanes. The story focuses on the brave and daring Lysistrata, who rallies women to stop the war between Athens and Sparta.

And on December 27, Shalom Theater will host the premiere of this season of “Nathan the Wise,” based on the German classic Gotthold Ephraim Lessing’s drama of the same name. Viewers will be shown a story about religious contradictions in Jerusalem in the 12th century, during the period of the Third Crusade.

“Manyunya”, “Black Hen”, “Flowers for Algernon” on RAMT
In December, RAMT will begin to actively dilute the poster with “Nutcrackers”, but something else is also worth seeing. On Sunday, December 21, “Black Chicken”, directed by Ekaterina Polovtseva and adapted from Anthony Pogorelsky’s fairy tale, will be screened.

Saturday, December 27 – “Manyunyu” based on the novel by Narine Abgaryan. A beautiful story about two girlfriends, Narine and Manyuna, who constantly find themselves in funny situations.

And December 29 – “Flowers for Algernon” by Yuri Grymov. The plot is based on a science fiction novel by American author Daniel Keyes. The main character is mentally disabled Charlie, who agrees to experimental brain surgery. All three productions have been among RAMT’s hits for several years.

“Orchestral rehearsal” and “Funeral prayer” at Lenkom
On December 13 and 14, Lenkom will show the play “Orchestra Rehearsal”, a tribute to director Mark Zakharov. The main role will be played by his daughter Alexandra. On December 19 and 20, the theater’s long-time hit play “Funeral Prayer” will be shown from the already created repertoire. Cast: “Daddy’s Daughters” star Andrei Leonov and “My Fair Nanny” star Olesya Zheleznyak.

“Three Sisters” in Space “Inside”

The independent and very fashionable Space “Inside” has not yet released a poster for December, but I already know that on December 27 and 28 they will show Andrei Manik’s “Three Sisters” with Maria Smolnikova, Maxim Vitorgan, Olga Lerman and others.
“The Old Man and the Sea” at the Vakhtangov Theater

You can watch Pavel Safonov’s solo performance “The Old Man and the Sea”, adapted from Ernest Hemingway’s story of the same name, at the Vakhtangov Theater on December 3 and 22. Its premiere took place in September. The narration comes from the point of view of Grigory Antipenko, whom the audience knows from the TV series “Don’t Be Born Beautiful”.
“Romeo and Juliet”, “The Fifth Seal”, “Siskin and the Hedgehog”, “Winnie the Pooh and All-All-All” on MTYUZ
And finally MTYUZ. On December 20, Pyotr Shereshevsky’s play “Romeo and Juliet” will be shown here. A spoiler for anyone offended by the title: This story is not the saddest story in the world, but there will be topical jokes and greetings from Olga Buzova.

On Sunday, December 21, Elizaveta Bondar’s play “The Fifth Seal”, about the last years of the Second World War, which affected the lives of millions of people, including young children, will be shown.

On Saturday, December 27, there are two shows at the same time that you can go with your children and not get bored: “Siskin and Hedgehog”. This is not just children’s poems, it is the story of two of the most popular children’s magazines of the 30s.

And on the main stage there will be “Winnie the Pooh and All-All-All.” You will laugh like a child! But some jokes will only be understood by adults.
