Shameless is one of the coolest TV series of our time. It is no surprise that many directors are desperate to emulate its success. In Turkey, for example. They filmed their own version there, called ‘Our Story’, and we will tell you what came out of it.
How did the series come about?
It seems: how can the Turks, with their puritanical morals, film such a series? It’s very simple: we take a well-known plot as a basis, throw out all the scenes with prohibited substances and other immoral episodes, and voila. In general, it turns out to be a lighter version of the sensational original.
Judging by the 6.5 point rating on IMDb it was okay, but there is no punch in the series. Yet the trick of ‘Shameless’ is precisely in the characters, who do not always look like exemplary law-abiding boys. Incidentally, the series scored more on Kinopoisk – 7.1 points.
The Turkish remake was released from 2017 to 2019. Starring Hazal Kaya, Burak Deniz, Reha Ozcan, Yagiz Can Konyali and others.
