Celebrities didn’t choose words.

A gold-plated Oscar statue is one of the most important goals in most artists’ lives. A win like that is a sign that you’ve finally been recognized, but in the history of Hollywood, there have been plenty of rebels who sabotaged the ceremony.

A pioneer in this field was Dudley Nichols, screenwriter and director of films such as ‘This Land Is Mine’, ‘The Long Way Home’ and ‘The Informant’. For the latter, the filmmaker won an Oscar for best screenplay in the mid-1930s, but Nichols never won an award.

The director gave no official reason, but behind the scenes they suspected that the demarche was related to the conflict between the Writers Guild founded by Dudley and the Academy, which handed out statuettes and refused to legitimize his colleagues.

Thirty-five years later, in 1970, George Campbell Scott, one of the most popular entertainers of the time, sabotaged the Oscars by missing out on his Best Actor win for Patton. Scott was disgusted by the very idea of an award where the best of the best were chosen by an authoritative jury and thousands of random people.

“The ceremony is a two-hour meat parade, a public display with contrived intrigue for economic reasons,” Campbell emphasized.

Finally, a few years later, the already famous Marlon Brando gave a performance at the Oscars, where Sasha Littlefeather, a native of America, was sent to the stage in his place. The girl criticized the organizers of the award for the way they featured Indians in their works, and also spoke out on sensitive political topics, criticizing the government.

Earlier we talked about Hollywood stars being disdainful of starring in Marvel movies.
