Already in the next “Avengers” viewers can expect a luxurious surprise.

Robert Downey Jr. While working with Marvel Studios, he became the main star of eight MCU films simultaneously and appeared in cameo roles in several. And after a five-year hiatus from comic book films, the actor is finally ready to return to action.

After playing the villain in Oppenheimer and multiple characters in the ambitious TV series The Sympathizer, the 59-year-old actor seems to have become nostalgic for men in latex tights and mech suits. If after “Avengers: Endgame” Robert insisted that he said goodbye to the MCU, now his position has changed radically.

“This role (Iron Man – ed.) is in my DNA. I became surprisingly receptive to the idea,” Downey Jr. said. to Screenrant, noting that he needed “Oppenheimer” to see if his acting skills had “withered away” after years of filming at Marvel.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, in turn, noted in a recent interview that the studio decided to radically change course and focus on sequels to existing films instead of focusing on the introduction of new heroes, which is why the character by Robert Downey Jr. chance to try on the legendary costume.

“There is no bigger brand associated with Marvel Studios than Iron Man when it comes to its importance to the franchise,” the director concluded.
