Soviet cinema is full of wonderful works by recognized masters and little-known authors. Russians can see the main hits of the USSR every year on vacation, but they will have to get acquainted with the rare masterpieces of comedy for themselves.
So that viewers do not waste time studying summaries and reviews of critics, we have prepared a selection of 20 films that will cheer you up even after decades:

Would you like to see young Oleg Tabakov play a teenager? Then enable ‘Noisy Day’. Thousands of adult Russians call this film their favorite, pointing out the great acting and scenes that look as if they were spied in the kitchen of any family. Moreover, viewers unfortunately remember that in those distant times “Little Lenochka Bitches” were a scandalous rarity, but today they are the absolute norm.
In 1965, Georgy Danelia, who directed Thirty-Three, came up with more daring satire. Making the film was a difficult task for the director: Evgeny Leonov asked for a high fee, then the artistic council demanded strict adjustments, or officials interfered with the editing process. As a result, the film was referred to as “unscientific fiction” in the credits and was shown only in provincial towns.
A different fate unfolded for ‘The Foundling’, whose script was approved without any changes. From the very beginning, the creators wrote the bachelor and Lyalya under Rostislav Plyatt and Faina Ranevskaya, who came up with the legendary phrase: “Mulya, don’t irritate me!” In the first weeks of release, the film fell in love with 16 million Soviet viewers, and then it was quoted by Leonid Brezhnev himself.
