They received a shock dose of radiation.

In 1986, after the terrible tragedy at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, some stars decided to go to the contamination zone. They understood that they were greatly endangering their health, but the desire to support the liquidators of the accident prevailed.

Joseph Kobzon

The singer became the first to give a concert in the exclusion zone. The artist literally went to Pripyat a month later. Then about 7,000 people came to the performance, but the hall was designed for only 300 people.

After a four-hour speech, Kobzon spoke to the audience for a long time, trying to cheer them up. The singer himself once even said that his diseases and in particular oncology, from which he died in 2018, became “the signature of Chernobyl.”

Valery Leontyev

In August 1986, Valery Leontyev visited there. He gave three full concerts: one in Cape Verde, where the liquidators of the disaster lived, and two in Chernobyl. The singer already spent one of them in the decontamination station.

After the away concerts, they began to check the artist with a sensor and it turned out that his hair had absorbed the maximum amount of radiation. Then he had to wash his hair with an enamel cleaner, after which his hair fell out and his scalp hurt for a long time.

After this, another unpleasant event happened. It turned out that the film on which the concert was recorded had been demagnetized.

“I don’t know who demagnetized the film, who gave such an order… But I would now talk very rudely to this person and allow myself the harshest actions against him. What right did he have to do something like that?!” — Leontyev shared his impressions.

Alla Pugacheva

In September, Alla Pugacheva also arrived in the infection area and performed in the village of Cape Verde. The prima donna left the protective suit and performed in plain clothes and without a mask. Also with the celebrity came Vladimir Kuzmin, with whom the singer first performed the song “Two Stars”.

After returning home, the artist had health problems. Pugacheva lost her voice, which she could not recover for a long time, writes the Moskovsky Komsomolets portal.
