Chris Fountain of Coronation Street details his depression

Chris Fountain talked about his depression after being fired from Coronation Street when a video of him raping women was posted online.

The 34-year-old actor, who played Tommy Duckworth on the soap opera until his departure in 2013, spoke about the rape in a shocking clip that continues to give him ‘gloomy’ career prospects to this day.

On the podcast microphone, Chris discussed his problems with Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas and his brothers Adam and Scott at their Mancs.

Discussing his mental health issues, Chris said, “I’ve been in so many dark and scary places that I realized I had to start changing the way I thought otherwise I might not be here.

My life, my job, my image, my reputation – everything was shattered. within 24 hours. I did not leave the house for four days ».

Chris said he realized he was depressed because his head was like a “swamp.”

He added: ‘I’ve never been so confused. I had to go ahead this morning and then it was canceled because they didn’t want me there. After a while, I thought, “I think I’m falling into a depression here.”

After leaving Coronation Street, Chris participated in the show Girlfriends in 2018 and also acted in regional shows, but suspects his job prospects are still affected by the video.

“As much as I like to say that everything is fine and everything is fine, technically it works right now, it’s depressing.

“Can’t you find me a job?” [the scandal]Or am I just not getting a job because I’m not as good an actor as I once thought? I don’t know if I will ever find this answer again.

However, Chris insisted that he didn’t give up on his passion for acting, saying, “I was really upset, really pissed off and really frustrated, but I don’t care anymore.

‘I can’t do without it. I can’t just say, “Okay, I have to give up acting now” just because it happened. I’ve been an actor since I was ten years old.

The actor added that he knew the rap video was a terrible mistake.

He said, “I can’t justify anything I’ve said. I am ashamed of it, I am ashamed, but at that moment I did not think, “Yeah, I really want to be rude to women”. It wasn’t like that at all.

“I probably respect women more than men because the way I was raised and the passion, care and protection I got from women has been incredible throughout my life.”

Chris shared some thoughts that ran through his mind after the video was replayed.

“You sit in that hole and say, ‘Oh my God, I’m so bad. I am a terrible person. I have nothing to offer anyone,” he said. And then I was in my darkest moments.

Chris said:

The actor added that his family and friends, including former lead actor Ryan, have helped him get through tough times.

Saying that he has panic attacks from time to time, Chris said, “Something is suddenly thrown at me and I can’t breathe.”

The soap opera star said he “makes good money” from his six-year stint as Justin Burton at Hollyoaks, and lives on that money.

But when it comes to his career, he feels ‘downhill’ and says, ‘Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very worried about my career’. I’ve never done anything else. I’ve never had another job.

In 2013, videos of Chris rapping under a pseudonym emerged, and in a distasteful clip, he rapped about dragging a girl upstairs and said, “He’s going to fuck me the hard way, he’s going to rape her on her birthday.”

At the time of the incident, Chris said the obscene texts were “deleted in a moment of insanity.”
