Tegan Martin has announced a surprising new career change ahead of the new year.
The former Miss The all-Australian, 31, took to Instagram on Wednesday to show off some of her achievements over the past year, revealing that she is studying a Bachelor of Health Science – and is now in her final year.
She also explained her lack of social media presence, saying that she likes to live a “private life”.
“This year I struggled to appear on social media like before,” Tegan began.
“Despite what you might think, sharing all facets of my life has never come naturally to me, and I’ve had to dig deep to keep up (for myself privacy and the opportunity to share every day) to be present to my people).”

The Newcastle model then listed her major achievements of 2023, including delivering her “first ‘Health is Wealth’ keynote to over 80 businesswomen at a Fiji conference” and co-authoring published articles and mini-series about health.
Tegan also revealed that she is planning a “secret project” with her best friend, starting next year.
“If you’d asked me five years ago, I would have been ‘busy’, but it didn’t match my passion for health and wellness at all,” she added.

“This year everything became crystal clear. I am finally living my purpose, which brings me more joy than I can put into words.”
Tegan concluded: “If you haven’t found your ‘thing’ yet, don’t give up, it’s worth the wait.”
In 2014, Tegan competed in the 63rd annual Miss Universe pageant and placed in the top ten.
The same year, she was crowned Miss Universe Australia after representing her hometown of Newcastle in the national pageant.

She made headlines in 2017 when she claimed she was “too fat” for Australia’s Next Top Model.
“I was too fat for Next Top Model.” They just said they were kissing like I was “too commercial”, she said during her appearance on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
“I’ve always had curves that looked like breasts and an ass… and that’s why, when I lived in Paris, I had to starve myself to work.”
She added: “It’s a shame, but luckily I’m out of that area now.”
