Just over a week after announcing that his wife Hayley Erbert29 years old, underwent emergency craniectomy, dancing with the Stars judge Derek Hough shared a first video of her taking a walk. In her clip, which showed them walking lovingly in Washington, D.C., Hayley wore a helmet and sweatpants with a Sherpa coat and pulled her long brown hair into a simple ponytail. Her husband, dressed in a black coat and matching trousers, held her arm as they walked in the cool but sunny weather. In the foreground was the Washington Monument.
“As you all know, this past week has been a challenging journey for us due to a dangerous event that suddenly entered our lives,” the dancer captioned the video. “It was a time full of uncertainty and fear, in an instant we went from living our dreams on stage to a nightmare. But today we are filled with hope and relief as we share an update with you. Hayley is fine.

Derek continued to report on his wife’s progress after surgery due to a skull hematoma due to rupture of a blood vessel, A miracle.” “His recovery process has been nothing short of a miracle,” he continued. “He still has a long way to go with another surgery, hopefully in a few weeks, to place a cranial implant to replace the piece that was removed. “It is removed during the craniectomy. This will restore the skull to its natural shape and protect the brain from injury.”
He also expressed gratitude for Hayley’s medical care and support from the community. “While this is not the holiday season any of us imagined, it is something we are very grateful to have. “We hope to cherish these moments with a deeper appreciation for life and the people who inhabit it,” the update concludes.
