Grace Dent is back in the UK after leaving I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! for medical reasons.

The 50-year-old MasterChef star quit the show after sparking concern among viewers about her “skinny” appearance.

After a 24-hour flight, Grace seemed to be feeling the strain as she arrived at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Despite her early departure, ITV is continuing to pay Grace her full fee, believed to be £100,000, as rules state that a celebrity will receive the full fee if they stay in the camp for at least 72 hours.

The food critic wore a black turtleneck, blue jeans and sneakers, as well as her famous red lip, as she strolled through the terminal.

During Monday’s episode of I’m A Celeb, Grace left her fellow campers in tears with a heartbreaking farewell message.

Fans were concerned for her after she looked “horribly ill” during her time in the jungle – and earlier on Monday it was announced she had left the show for good.

Grace was nominated for the latest Down The Tubes trial with This Morning presenter Josie Gibson on Sunday night, but withdrew for medical reasons.

She left a farewell message for her emotional housemates in the form of a laminated letter, which was read out by a tearful Nick Pickard.

Grace admitted she thought she had “let down” her housemates and said her heart was “broken” when the housemates found out she had left the jungle for the first time.

The full statement reads: “My dear campmates, I am so sorry to let you down. I left the camp for medical reasons.

“My heart is broken, I loved you and enjoyed getting to know you all. You carried me and it was a joy to be your friend in this experience.

“Leaving you all at this time will be one of the saddest things of my life. I love you all. Your friend, Miss Grace Dent.”

The letter triggered great emotion in her fellow campers and they sang in harmony: “We love you, Grace!” while EastEnders’ Danielle also broke down in tears.

Marvin shouted, “She didn’t let us down,” while Nella Rose said: “She is like my pillar of strength. My little fairy godmother. “As long as she’s happy, I’m happy.”

Later, at dinner, the group offered a thoughtful toast to Grace while enjoying the meal that Josie and Danielle won in the trial.

Grace caused concern among ITV viewers as many commented on her thin appearance and pale, scarred skin before her sudden exit.

On Monday, it was revealed that she decided to leave the camp after “losing all her energy” at the camp and reaching a breaking point at the prospect of another Bushtucker trial.

Within three hours of the announcement, Grace was spotted at Brisbane Airport returning to the UK.

The food critic refused to speak to the press at the airport and kept her head down as she hurried through the terminal.

Grace was not smiling as she waited to check in and was seen repeatedly rubbing her elbow as she waited in line.

She was once seen using her phone as a mirror after raising concerns among viewers about her “awkward” appearance in the jungle.

Taking advantage of her return to comfort, she wore her signature red lipstick.

Grace was dressed casually for her flight, wearing a black tank and loose fitting jeans.

After checking in, Grace was escorted through a VIP entrance by her security team up the escalator.

An insider has since revealed to MailOnline that Grace’s exit from the jungle was decided by mutual agreement between Grace and show bosses, who stepped in after witnessing her visible deterioration in the camp.

A source close to the MasterChef star revealed: “Grace decided to leave the jungle shortly after it was announced she would be taking part in the latest Bushtucker challenge.”

“Knowing that she was facing a new, difficult challenge was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

They continued: “It was mutually agreed that she would withdraw from the competition, it was clear that she was not herself, she had lost all energy, whereas normally she is witty and fun to be around.”

“ITV’s care and welfare teams intervened, and rightly so.”

“She has struggled since she stayed in the camp with fewer facilities, the weather was particularly miserable this year and as a food critic it was harder not to eat well than she ever imagined.”

“Grace is now looking forward to seeing her loved ones again and after a few days of rest and recovery everything will be fine.”

Grace has had a tough time since she started filming Pole Position Trial on Friday 24 November and last week she threatened to quit the show.

ITV confirmed her departure on Monday with a statement saying: “Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show for medical reasons. She was a wonderful housemate and will be missed by her co-stars and viewers.”
