Ozzy Osbourne reveals he still has 10 years to live in ‘best case scenario’ after spinal cancer diagnosis

Ozzy OsbourneThe 74-year-old revealed he was diagnosed with a spinal tumor during recent back surgery and revealed he still has 10 years left to live “to the fullest” in a new interview with Rolling Stone UK. He also spoke about whether or not he was afraid of dying after various health problems he had in the past.

“I should have died a thousand times,” said the rock and roll star, who revealed his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2020 after speaking about his addictions and overdoses over the years. “I thought a lot while I was in bed and realized that all my drinking buddies are dead! The cemetery is full of them! You died and you died and you died.

“I’m not afraid of death, but I don’t want to live a long, painful, miserable existence,” he continued. “I like the idea that if you have a terminal illness, you can go to a place in Switzerland and get it treated quickly. I saw my father die of cancer.”

“But look,” he added. “She said Sharon [Osbourne] that I had recently smoked a joint and she said to me, ‘Why are you doing this? This will kill you! I said, “How long do you want me to live?” At best, I still have ten years left and as I get older, time accelerates.

It’s unclear whether the comments about ten years to live are Ozzy’s guess or what doctors told him, but he also went into more detail about having a fourth back surgery earlier this year after having suffered a fall in 2019. The surgery led to the diagnosis of spinal tumor.

“It really surprised me,” he said. “The second surgery went very badly and left me practically paralysed. I thought I would be able to run after the second and third, but with the last one they stuck a stick in my spine. They found a tumor in one of the vertebrae, so they had to remove that too. “It’s very difficult, man, and my balance is off.”

Ozzy’s wife Sharon, whom he married in 1982, also admitted that she sometimes feels “helpless” when it comes to her husband’s health battles. “And sometimes I felt so helpless and so bad for Ozzy, watching him go through this pain,” she told the outlet. “He underwent all these operations and it all seemed like a nightmare. He hasn’t lost his sense of humor, but I look at my husband and he’s here while everyone else is away. This is the longest time he hasn’t worked. Staying at home for so long was very strange for him.”

Despite canceling the tour due to his recent health problems, father-of-six Ozzy said returning to the stage remains his goal. “For some reason, this is my goal to work towards. To do these shows,” he said. “If it’s Ozzfest or something, or even a fucking Roundhouse concert. If I can’t keep doing shows regularly, I just want to be well enough to do a show where I can say, “Hey guys, thanks so much for my life.” This is what I work for, and if I end up dying, I will die a happy man.”
