Will & Grace star Eric McCormack’s wife Janet Holden has filed for divorce after more than 26 years of marriage.

According to TMZ, the 60-year-old actor’s husband filed the documents in court on Wednesday, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

The Hollywood director, who married McCormack in 1997, has not given a divorce date.

Janet is asking for spousal support and apparently wants to “terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to Eric,” the press release said.

Eric – known for his role as Will Truman in the popular NBC sitcom – and Janet have one child together: 21-year-old son Finnigan Holden McCormack.

In 2018, Janet supported the actor as he accepted a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

The duo first met in 1994 on the set of the television show Lonesome Dove in Canada, in which he played a lead role and she was an assistant director.

After falling in love, they kept their romance a secret for a while.

“There was a little bit of mystery and danger, which was fun,” Holden previously told People .

However, after she took on another role after the first season, they went public with their romance and appeared together at the 1995 wrap party.

The couple married in August 1997.

Five months after they said yes, McCormack landed the role of his iconic TV character on Will & Grace.

The popular show, which started in 1998, was rebooted in September 2017.

On April 23, 2020, after eleven seasons, it finally ended.

McCormack played the role of Grace alongside series regular Sean Hayes, Megan Mullalley and his co-director Debra Messing.
