Friends and family came out to support Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin on Saturday to celebrate the Sydney Swans star who scored his 1000th goal.

His father, Lance Franklin Sr., was spotted by Buddy and his wife, Jesinta, arriving in a taxi.

Rugby player Drew Mitchell was also spotted outside the house with his girlfriend, Charlotte Barge.

Tens of thousands of Sydney Swans fans stormed the Sydney Cricket Ground on Friday to celebrate Buddy’s 1,000th career goal in the AFL top flight.

The 35-year-old scored his fourth goal of the night from 40 yards at the end of the last quarter, becoming the first and sixth overall player to reach the finish line in 26 years.

It led to an invasion on the field that stopped the game between the Swans and the Geelong Cats.

Franklin’s first 580 majors came to play for the Hawthorn Hawks, for which he won two premiership medals between 2005 and 2013 before moving north to Sydney.

He is the only player to score 1000 goals in the modern era of the game, which began in 1990, when the Australian Football League was founded by the almost 100-year-old Victorian state league.

Buddy wasn’t the only one immortalized on Friday night.

As more than 30,000 swans flocked to SCG to celebrate its 1,000th goal, brothers Joel and Krystal Clayton took the opportunity to honor their late grandmother and scatter her ashes on the sacred lawn in the central square.

While most of the fans running onto the field only saw Buddy, Krystal got into the group and drew a straight line into the center square.

His brother, Joel, said this was a strategy to make sure they could fulfill his wish that Grandma Edna Dixon’s ashes were scattered at the SCG.

There was also some divine intervention in the game. The brothers did not bring the ashes of the first showdown against GWS, where Buddy had a chance to reach the finish line but could only score one goal.

Joel said they’re better prepared for the second lap and making sure they’re ready when the big time comes.

“It was a huge opportunity for football, a great moment, but very emotional for the family on a personal level,” Joel told ABC News.

“We would never have the chance to do it again.”
