The fun began when Clodagh, 46, asked the presenter whether he preferred cream “on top or bottom” of the jam on his scones, and he got an amusing response from Phil and Rochelle.

After showing me a series of recipes using rhubarb as an ingredient, Clodagh asked Phillip for his opinion on adding cream to scones.

“Are you up or down?” he said.

Smiling, Phillip replied: “Absolutely icing!” The members of the show crew could be heard laughing behind the camera.

Phillip later addressed his decision to leave Twitter, stating that Rochelle and Clodagh were able to continue discussing the issue on social media but were not involved.

“You can row all you want, you can’t contact me,” he added.
