Home and Away star Tammin Sursok relives fear of fear her daughter was involved in Nashville school shooting: ‘It was completely and absolutely traumatic’

Tammin Sursok has spoken openly about her anguish as a young mother following a shooting at a Nashville school on March 27.

The former Home and Away star, who has lived in the United States since 2006 and lives in Nashville, Tennessee, said she was “panicking” for the safety of her nine-year-old daughter when news of the tragedy broke.

Unable to confirm the location of the shooting, Tammin said her horror grew until she was finally able to confirm her child, Phoenix, was safe.

“I didn’t know which school it was [happening at]’ the brunette mother-of-two told Nine in an interview on Thursday.

“I didn’t know if the school had a different nickname… For a few minutes I had no idea what was going on,” she explained.

“I called their school,” Tammin continued, “and they said it’s closed and everyone is safe. But you don’t know, is it a shooter? Are you alone, are you gone? You don’t have that information.”

Six people, including three children the same age as Phoenix, were killed when a gunman broke into Covenant School. a church elementary school in Nashville.

The shooter was 28-year-old Audrey Hale, who once went to the school.

While Hale’s motive is still unknown, police say they have drawn detailed maps of the school and have been monitoring it for some time.

“It was completely traumatic,” Tammin told Nine.

“Nashville is still suffering from the aftermath. The parents are scared and the community is broken.”

This comes after Tammin took to Instagram shortly after the news of the school killings.

Tammin can be seen walking her kitchen in the moving clip.

“There was an active shooter at one of the schools in Nashville… It’s right next to my daughter’s school. She’s locked up, she’s fine,” Tammin said in the video.

She described the ordeal as “too close to home” for many parents in America, where school shootings occur almost every year.

Tammin described the horror she felt after receiving the call that an active shooter was within walking distance of the Phoenix school, calling the ordeal “a parent’s worst nightmare.”

The star, who has often spoken out in favor of more gun control, currently lives in the United States with husband Sean McEwan and their two children, daughters Phoenix and Lennon.
