At first everything went well, bottles with Buzova’s face began to appear on store shelves. But in 2020, the artist suddenly changed her mind and withdrew her permission to use her name and appearance for alcohol advertising. Global Wine Distribution LLC first tried to contact a celebrity and then filed a lawsuit.
“The prosecution received notice from Buzova to withdraw permission to use the image and name. A citizen can withdraw his consent at any time, but the person who had the right to use the image can claim compensation for the losses incurred by such a withdrawal, ”reports the Joint Press Service of the Courts of St. Petersburg .
The company had to throw out all the “Buzovsky” alcohol, and this cost a serious penny. Now the star can also receive a substantial amount: the importer is demanding more than 1.5 million rubles from Buzova for the used batch of wine and 1.15 million euros for all losses incurred.
