Jamie Foxx has been hospitalized following an undisclosed medical emergency, his daughter Corinne Foxx announced Wednesday.

In a statement attributed to the actor’s family, posted on their Instagram account, they wrote that the 55-year-old actor suffered a “medical complication” that required hospitalization.

The family also said in the statement that Foxx is now “on the road to recovery,” although they did not disclose what medical conditions he is suffering from.

But a source described the problem to TMZ in more serious terms, calling it a “medical emergency,” though they said Foxx is now “communicating again.”

“We just wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, had a medical complication yesterday [Tuesday]’ begins the family statement.

“Fortunately, with prompt action and good care, he is already on the mend,” they continued.

“We know how loved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

Sources have confirmed to TMZ that Foxx’s unnamed condition is indeed serious enough to require hospitalization.

Few details have been shared at this point, and it’s unclear what symptoms the Oscar winner was suffering from or what led to his hospitalization.

Despite his family saying his condition is improving, there is no word yet on when he will be able to leave the hospital or return to filming.

Foxx was recently in Atlanta, Georgia filming the action comedy Back In Action.

The film was marketed as a return to acting for his co-star Cameron Diaz, who he brought back for the film, although she reportedly plans to retire for good after a series of mishaps on the film’s set. Glenn Close also appears in the film.

Later, sources with direct knowledge of Foxx’s condition told TMZ that he was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday morning.

They emphasized that his condition is so serious that the actor’s family traveled from out of town to be with him at the hospital.

A source added: “He’s communicating now, which is good news,” which could mean he was once unable to communicate due to the medical emergency.

Foxx shares his daughter Corinne with his ex-girlfriend Connie Kline. He also has a 13-year-old daughter, Annalize, whom he shares with Kristin Grannis.

His last film shoot in Atlanta turned out to be a surprisingly stressful ordeal for the Baby Driver actor and his cast.

Last month it was reported that Foxx “had an absolute meltdown” while filming the film in the UK, which led to several people being fired.

He has reportedly landed an executive producer on the project, along with two directors and even his own manager.

According to The Sun, an employee was fired in connection with an apparent scam to gain access to £33,000 in cash from the actor, allegedly linked to the sale of a Rolex watch.

There was more drama when it was announced that production had been halted last month after an unexploded World War II bomb was discovered on the London film set just before two major action sequences were to be filmed.

Filming, originally intended to mark Cameron’s triumphant return to film, instead turned into a nightmare for her and the rest of the cast.

A friend of the Mask star exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com that she will probably retire for good once she wraps up her comeback film due to all the drama surrounding it, although that also seems to go against the standard arguments and criticisms that every film set.
