Surpassed Depardieu: this is how the life of the Asterix turned out on the screen

In the adventures of “Asterix and Obelix”, the latter was invariably played by Gerard Depardieu. But it was difficult with Asterix, he was embodied in different parts by different people. But most of the main character was remembered by the French actor Christian Clavier.

It was he who was Asterix in the first two and most successful episodes (“Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar” and “Asterix and Obelix: Cleopatra’s Mission”). During his 70 years, the actor managed to play some great roles, for example, in the Aliens film series, where he became famous under the name of Jacques the Rogue, or in the film Between an Angel and a Demon, where Christian appeared for the first time in the frame with Depardieu.

Of course, it was his Asterix that brought him world fame. The clever little barbel fell in love with the viewer, they even dressed in his image for the holidays. And when Clavier did not appear in the third film, many were upset and even refused to watch, as evidenced by the ratings. But the reason for leaving was simple: at the time of the second tape, Christian was already 50 years old, and his hero should look even younger.

Now the artist continues to act in films, only in the last couple he took part in the filming of five films. He is married to the production designer Isabelle de Araujo, he has one child – the daughter of Margot from his first marriage. The actor looks very cheerful for his age, unlike his colleague Obelix.
