A few weeks before the coronation, Charles received bad news from the British colony – Australia was about to abolish the monarchy and Charles III as head of state.
“It’s inevitable. But development is entirely up to the Australian government,” High Commissioner Stephen Smith told The Mirror.
According to him, the country loves and respects the monarchy and an amendment of the constitutional provision will not affect this attachment in any way. If the decision is made, Karl III will lose power and titles in the country.
Despite the changes, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will still take part in the coronation on May 6.
England has colonized 14 states in the past, including major states such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Grenada, Jamaica and Papua New Guinea. English power has been preserved there to this day. However, in 2021, Barbados left the monarchy and became an independent republic. This led other countries to discuss the subject of status change.
