The audience is already tired of waiting.
The day before, it was reported that HBO was planning the release of the next prequel to the Game of Thrones series. According to Variety, the film will tell about the conquest of the continent of Westeros by the representative of the Targaryen dynasty – Aegon I. Should show the story of how Aegon Targaryen and his sisters Visenia and Rhaenys, who were also his wives, left their army and three dragons to gain power over six of the seven kingdoms.
These events took place 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and about 100 years before the events of House of the Dragon. At the same time, the planned long-awaited sequel about Jon Snow was once again shelved.
As film critic Sergei Sychev told PopCornNews, this is a smart move by the filmmakers.
“If something is delayed, it’s not because the people who spend tens of millions of dollars on this are fools. They wait for the moment when the product perfectly meets their needs and is ready to be launched on the market. It is better to measure seven times,” said the film critic.
So the story of Jon Snow does not come before the story of Aegon.
Sychev also speculated whether the new prequel would be a success, as it takes viewers even further away from beloved characters from the main series.
“There is no decent alternative as powerful as Game of Thrones, despite the success of individual series. HBO just keeps exploiting this universe. The new product will of course also have its own audience,” says the expert.
