US commentator reveals why Donald Trump’s wife Melania never divorced him – despite allegations of an affair with a porn star and a Playboy model

American broadcaster Cooper Lawrence has revealed why a divorce is not on the cards for Donald Trump and his wife Melania.

The former first lady, 52, was conspicuously absent from her husband’s side when he stood trial in New York on Tuesday on charges of paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels after an alleged affair.

Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records while standing before a New York judge – becoming the first US president to be indicted and charged with a crime.

She was also nowhere to be seen when the president delivered a provocative speech at Mar-a-Lago later that night in which he condemned the New York attorney and judge who presided over his impeachment.

And while some commentators have argued that Melania’s failure to show up proves their marriage is over, Ms. Lawrence the ex-model knows better than to leave such a lucrative arrangement.

‘I find [Melania] tired of being shy [Donald]…but we’ve seen many, many times women stand behind their husbands because the attitude is, ‘Listen, you messed up. Why do I have to be poor?’ Mrs. Lawrence tells Australian breakfast show on TV sunrise On Wednesday.

Mrs. Lawrence said that rumors have been circulating in New York for years that Melania and Trump’s marriage is just a “business relationship.”

‘I’m not sure. I’ve never met them, but they say, you know, it’s a symbiotic relationship,” said Mrs. Lawrence speculated.

“He gets the hot model in his arms. She becomes rich and she becomes an American citizen and then she becomes First Lady… [and] A part of her business is with him,” she added.

Born in Slovenia, Melania began dating then-property mogul Trump in 1998 while he was still divorcing his second wife, Marla Maples.

The couple married in 2005 and Melania became a US citizen in 2006, months after the birth of their son Barron.

Melania is known to have spent months in the couple’s apartment in Trump Tower at the start of the Trump presidency.

Stormy Daniels, meanwhile, claims she had a sexual relationship with Trump in 2006, a month after Melania gave birth to Barron, who is now 17.

Last week, a source told DailyMail.com that Melania would support Donald in his fight against the new criminal charges.

Mrs. Trump is strong. She is focused on her family and stands by her husband as always,” the source said.

“Over the past 7 years, the left has made several attempts to smear and attack her family and this is just the latest attempt to take him down.”

The statement of support was a change of tack for Melania Trump, who was furious when reports surfaced about Trump’s extramarital affair with Daniels. He denied the case and all wrongdoing.
