James Corden has admitted it is “absolutely terrifying” to leave his US TV show.
The 44-year-old presenter has decided to quit his job as host of The Late Late Show and move back to his native United Kingdom with his family from Los Angeles.
And now James has admitted to feeling massive anxiety and fear as he prepares to complete his run at the end of April.
But the actor also revealed that he feels an “urgency” to leave his coveted hosting gig and focus on theater work.
Speaking at a PaleyFest event in Los Angeles on Sunday, James admitted: “I haven’t been scared since I decided to attend the show and move here. I haven’t felt this unstable… (But ) i have to embrace that fear…

“I’m just aware that what I’m trying to do is not the path that is often taken.
“To walk from the National Theatre, write a TV show for the BBC, go to Broadway, do a late-night talk show, film stuff in the middle, stop the late-night talk show and then say, ‘Oh, I must now I’ would like to do another play.”
“As far as I know, it’s just not the road that has been taken, so it brings a lot of anxiety. It’s terrifying, it’s absolutely terrifying.”
Speaking about his upcoming plans, James said: “There are a lot of things I’d like to do, but they’re very dependent on the people who want me to do them… I think it’s going to be very important to catch me breath.” and take a while.’
Discussing a return to his theater roots, the Gavin and Stacey star admitted: “It couldn’t be more urgent for me to leave to do this. [theatre].
“I’m going to be very angry with myself if I don’t do another piece in a year or a year and a half or do another piece that I’ve already done. I’d give anything to go back and do another show, I’d give absolutely anything.”
James concluded by insisting he felt he made the right decision to leave the show.
He said: “I’m so sure it’s the real deal. I am absolutely sure that we have done everything we set out to do and I think it is very important that it comes to the end.

Real talk: Speaking at the PaleyFest in Los Angeles on Sunday, he admitted: “I haven’t been scared since I decided to attend the show and move here.” I had never felt on such unstable ground.

James’ final episode of The Late Late Show airs April 27 on CBS.
