The author of the film proved that the main character would not have survived anyway.
The director of “Titanic” James Cameron gave the answer to the question that he was already tired of. Fans of the film have been arguing for years about whether Leonardo DiCaprio’s character could have survived: they say that when everyone was drowning in icy water, Rose climbed onto a giant door and was able to survive as a result. Jack failed to climb onto the makeshift raft and perished in the cold ocean water.
These disputes have become a source of jokes and memes, someone even conducted experiments to prove that if life jackets were strapped under a wooden structure, a few people could fit inside. Once Cameron couldn’t stand it. In an interview with The Daily Beast, he explained why Jack didn’t stand a chance.
“Okay, imagine you’re in two degrees of ice cold water, your brain barely works from hypothermia, you’re awfully close to hypothermia. And you want him to take off his life jacket, take off Rose’s life jacket, dive in and tie them there somehow so they don’t blow away in two minutes. This means that tying knots under water in terrible cold, it will take you 5-10 minutes, and if you get to the surface after all this, you will already be dead, ”Cameron explained, not without irritation.
According to him, the best option for the main character was to stay in the water and hold the door with his hands in the hope that some lifeboat would pick him up.
