Shania Twain’s Husband: Everything You Need to Know About His 2 Marriages

Before the release of shania two2022 Netflix documentary titled not just a girl, released a revealing trailer in which she opened up about her ex-husband’s affair. “It was just as intense losing my parents. I thought I’d lost my voice forever. I thought that was it,” she recalled. Shania’s first husband, Robert John “Mutt” Lange had an affair with her best friend and personal assistant, which led to their divorce in 2010.

Despite feeling that her world was ending, Shania found herself walking down the aisle just a few years after her husband said they were separating. Robert John “Mutt” Lange

Shania and Mutt met in 1993 at a country festival called Fan Fair after Mutt, a record producer, obtained her phone number from his record company, via CM extension. They wed on December 28 of that year and quickly became a personal and professional power couple as they have collaborated on much of the country star’s music, including her multi-platinum albums and some of her biggest hits between the 1995 and 2005, as “Any”. My friend”, “(If you’re not in it for love) I’m leaving!”, “No one needs to know”, and “Dude! I feel like a woman!” among many, many others.

“As a producer, he’s also a director; very practical and very talented. So I was driving in the direction of sound. He didn’t direct the direction of my voice and he never tried to change me,” he explained to The Guardian in 2018 of Mutt’s impact on their music while they were husband, wife and collaborators. “He never took part in creative development in that sense. He guided the choice of instruments, the sound, the rhythm. He was a bass player as a musician and he was very rhythm driven.” The dynamic duo have welcomed a son, HEYin 2001.

Shania and Mutt’s relationship seemed like a dream come true, but that dream fell apart in 2008 when Mutt approached Shania and told her he wanted to end their 14-year union. Shania then turned to her best friend and “confidant” of hers. Marie-Anne Thiébaudwho she hired to work for her while she was in Switzerland, as noted by Belfast Telegraph. “I said, ‘Marie-Anne, don’t you think my husband is acting weird?'” she revealed in an interview for The Oprah Winfrey Show. “And she said, ‘No, I don’t see anything weird.'”

Sadly, Shania would later find out that Marie was the reason her husband wanted to leave her, and Marie-Anne’s husband, Frederic Thiebaud, he had to break the news after he found out himself. “I said, ‘Guys, now you have to tell them. This is ridiculous. You just owe them,’” he recalled in Oprah. She broke the news to Shania as soon as Mutt and Marie-Anne refused.

“There were days where I didn’t really care if tomorrow came,” said the “Endless Love” singer. AARP Magazine in a 2020 interview (via CNN) about her complete and utter shock upon learning of the affair. However, Shania also called the unfortunate event “beautifully twisted” as her heartbreak led her to her future husband: Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frédéric.

Shania and Frédéric met through Marie-Anne and the two couples became very close very quickly. “Fred and Mutt were good friends, and Marie-Anne and I were good friends,” Twain revealed Oprah. However, as soon as the news broke, Shania was devastated. “I called her and said, ‘Why don’t you come? I want to talk to you about something. I asked him if there was anything she needed to tell me. I wanted to give her the opportunity to tell me without me accusing her,” she recalled The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Unfortunately, Marie-Anne has denied hiding anything from her or having an affair with her husband.

The Grammy winner noted that she and Frédéric became friends after “trying to figure everything out. [and] holding each other” through the pain of it all. Speaking of her new love, she added: “We supported each other and in the end we really found something beautiful and unexpected.”

In his interview with aarp, Shania said she came out stronger on the other end of her messy divorce. “Sometimes it oppresses me to face things, but experience also teaches you to manage,” she said. “As you get older, you have a lot of experience falling and getting back up. You won’t stop falling. But he’ll get better at getting up and cleaning himself. I think that. I’ve lived it.

Shania and Frédéric got married on New Year’s Day 2011 in Rincón, Puerto Rico for People. “They got married at sunset in front of 40 of their closest family and friends,” Shania’s rep told the publication at the time. “Frédéric Nicolas Thiébaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate and understanding friend, and over time, an incredible love has blossomed from this precious friendship,” Shania wrote on her website before their wedding, according to People. Looks like Shania got the “Forever and Ever” of her after all. Most recently, she posted a cute photo of them on Instagram on Jan. 1, 2023. She captioned the photo with just a red heart emoji and Frédéric’s official Instagram hashtag (see above).
