When my furry friend got home, I decided that the best thing for him was to have a harness, because it’s the most comfortable option for dogs that love to run, and it gives me more control when walking. Then a new world opened up before my eyes and I wasn’t even clear about the harness size. But I asked and found the most suitable one this way.
Measure your dog’s width

first thing to do measure your chest circumference, so that the seat belt is not too loose or too tight. To do this, I used a meter seam and surrounded my dog at the widest part, just behind the front legs.

Measure the diameter of your neck

It depends on whether the seat belt is also wrapped around your neck. In my case yes, so I used the same yards of stitch to surround the neck at its widest point and I left a few more centimeters so as not to tighten my feathers
With these two measurements in centimeters we can go to any pet store and find the right size, because dimensions are always specified on the harness tag.

Puppies change size

You should take the same measurements for puppies, but remember that they are growing (and very fast). Therefore, when we notice that it sits too much or is uncomfortable, we will need to apply it immediately. change the size or choose an adjustable harness to adapt to your growth.

To avoid falling into the same trap, make a note of my first novice dog mom mistake: It’s not like a kid’s clothes, you don’t need to buy a large harness to fill as he gets older. If it’s too loose, it rubs against sensitive areas. like their belly or armpits, they are less protected by their fur and are easier to irritate.
