This year’s red nose
The centerpiece of the event is the red nose, and this year was designed by former Apple guru Sir Jony Ive.

Ive told The Independent: “We grew up with Comic Relief and are proud to support their remarkable work.
“This new and seemingly simple Red Nose was a fantastically complex little object to design and manufacture, involving our entire team. “We hope it brings a small moment of joy to whoever wears it.”
The red nose design changes every year to make people buy it again and again.
Jamie Dornan, Dermot O’Leary, Courteney Cox, Jonathon Ross, Graham Norton and AJ Odudu have all recently sculpted the brand new nose.

Comic Relief’s first fundraiser, broadcast live from London’s Shaftsbury Theatre, was attended by a wide range of artists and comedians, including Lenny Henry himself, Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry and Kate Bush.
In 1988, Lenny Henry hosted Ethiopia’s first live Red Nose Day telethon, which was attended by 150 celebrities and comedians. The event, which raised £15 million in donations, was held every two years thereafter.
Due to its popularity, Red Nose Day has become an annual event and is a high-profile television event, followed religiously by millions across the country and worldwide.
Charity challenges are also held before the televised events to raise more money.
For 34 years, March has been synonymous with Red Nose Day, a fun fundraiser that raises millions to end poverty around the world.
The slogan of the campaign created by Richard Curtis and Lenny Henry’s comic relief in 1988 is “Do something funny for money”.
Various celebrities have attended the Red Nose Day charity drive over the years and accepted all kinds of fundraisers such as Emma Willis, Oti Mabuse and Rylan Clark who reached the top of Cairn Gorm mountain to raise money for the event. .
Others have also participated in Red Nose Day specials of popular films or shows, such as Red Nose Day Actually, in which the original cast of Love Actually reunited in 2007, and One Red Nose Day and a Wedding in 2019, following the film Four Weddings and a funeral.
Tonight, Friday 17 March, Red Nose Day returns to our screens and millions are expected to take part in various challenges and fundraisers.
The heart of the campaign is a donation marathon that will be broadcast live on the BBC to raise funds, with high-profile celebrities taking part in last year’s appeal to raise £42.8m.
Proceeds from the Red Nose Day appeal benefit the charity comic relief Supporting people struggling with the cost of living crisis and addressing issues such as homelessmental health problems and food poverty.
