She holds the crown as Australia’s longest-serving actress in the same role, but veteran star Lynne McGranger has revealed how she plans to leave Home and Away.

The actress, who played Irene Roberts on the iconic soap for 30 years, has detailed how she plans to leave the soap – and she hopes to do it with a bang.

While she won the hearts of the nation with her portrayal of the mother figure, 70-year-old Lynne wants her departure from the show to be dramatic.

“I want to go with the biggest bang, the most dramatic ending,” she told Stuff.co.nz.

“I want to get lost at sea or die a very sad, long death while everyone around me cries and cries.

“Or Irene could get lost at sea and they never find the body, have the funeral and all that, and then she goes back to town.”
