The final Oscar election begins today. The Academy’s 9,579 eligible voters will now make their election, and they only have until March 7 at 5pm PT to do so. There is a lot of speculation, but all that really matters now is what these AMPAS members tick on their digital ballots. Good luck to everyone.
Meanwhile, the Academy has released its first list of presenters for the big show. Following her acclaimed rap tribute to BAFTA actresses at the BAFTA Awards ceremony, she won last year’s award for Best Supporting Actress west side story, Ariana DeBose will be a presenter, no doubt for this year’s Supporting winner, following a longstanding Academy tradition. The same goes for last year’s KODA Troy Kotsur, winner of Best Supporting Actor, also returns to the Dolby Theater, this time also as a presenter. Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed, Emily Blunt, eight-time nominee Glenn Close, Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly, former Honorary Academy Award winner Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Creed III Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monáe, Deepika Padukone, Oscar winner Questlove, Zoe Saldaña and Donnie Yen will all take the stage at the Oscars.
The announcement was made Thursday by executive producers/showrunners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner and executive producer Molly McNearney. The Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be streamed live on ABC and worldwide from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on March 12 at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT.
Producers will continue to announce talent joining the show before the ceremony. They have already produced talent by participating in performances of songs in the Original Song category.
