Emilia Clarke’s fans have rushed to her defense after she was hit with online abuse in a new Instagram snap.
The Game of Thrones star, 36, shared the glowing snap to show off her new mug, which her mum sent with the caption: “Going really well.”
She captioned the post, “Mom got me a mug. I felt it was important to share this newfound wisdom.
“Use it and reap the benefits #it’s time to start backing up people #mothers really do know best #mycold just got its medicine.”
Unfortunately, Emilia’s face sparked a flurry of mean troll comments about her appearance, but they were soon greatly outnumbered by users who came to her aid.

Furious: Emilia Clarke’s fans rushed to her defense after she was hit with online abuse over new Instagram photo
One user mistakenly commented: “Mother of dragons, what happened to you,” while another added, “what happened to that hair, it’s worse than mine right now.”
Emilia’s fans then rushed to her defence, with one gushing: “This is by far the most beautiful woman in Hollywood,” while a second added: “You always put the biggest smile on my face!”
A third added: “Thank you for laughing so much Emilia, you make the world more beautiful.”
“Beautiful – real laugh lines in an IG photo,” added a fourth user.
Emilia previously shared her thoughts on aging during an interview with ELLE in 2021, admitting that a facial specialist told her she needed fillers when she was just 28.
She said, “You have this idea of aging, and then you have this idea of what aging makes you look like.
“At 34 I’m smarter, smarter, I have more experience, I’ve done all these things and I’m proud of it. This is only possible because you are as old as you are. Time is the only thing you can do these things with.
“So if my face reflects the time I’ve spent on this earth, I’m ready.”

It comes after Emilia revealed she would cry before the sex scenes with Jason Momoa in Game of Thrones because she was unaware of the nudity before accepting the role.
The star portrayed Daenerys Targaryen in the popular fantasy series and admitted she was “scared” of the sex scenes because she “didn’t know what to do”.
Emilia, who was just 23 at the time, was “fresh out of drama school” and had “never been on a film set” and had to undress in front of “all these people”.
Speaking on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard in 2019, Emilia said: “I took the job and then they sent me the scripts and I read them, and I was like, ‘Oh, there’s the catch! ‘
“But I was fresh out of drama school and approached it like a job: if it’s in the script, of course it’s necessary.
“I’ve never been on a movie set like this before and now I’m completely naked on a movie set with all these people and I don’t know what to do and I don’t know what’s expected of me, and I know not what you want and i don’t know what i want.
“Regardless of whether there is nudity or not, I would have thought in the first season that I was not worthy to ask for anything. I am not worthy to need anything at all.’
However, she appreciated Jason, 43, who plays Khal Drogo, for making filming as easy as possible because she felt “impostor syndrome”.
