Karren Brady has come under fire this week for being accused of breaking BBC guidelines.
The 53-year-old businesswoman often looks glamorous with Lord Sugar as his assistant, and is confident in corporate TV competition The Apprentice.
But as the show airs, she takes to Instagram to show some love to the brands she sees on screen – leading some to believe it’s against BBC guidelines.
By saying that on-air talent should not promote products or clothes they wear on air, The Mirror reported that she could have broken that.
A spokesperson for the show denied this, telling the publication: “Karren has not benefited financially from her social media posts and has not breached the BBC’s editorial guidelines.”
Inquiries: The Apprentice’s Karren Brady was accused of flouting BBC guidelines this week as she allegedly promoted outfits from the show online
Karren regularly takes to Instagram to share her chic ensembles with her 166,000 followers, tagging brands like Reiss, Massimo Dutti, Me + Em and Safiyaa for their outfit recognition.
While on the show, clothing brand Phoebe Grace shared a photo of her and noted that she wore a heart printed shirt throughout the show.
The brand gushed over the bond, with Karren noting that she “got so many compliments on it.”
Section 15.3.36 of the BBC guidelines states: “No on-air talent shall advertise any product, goods, service or clothing they use on air”.
But a source confirmed to The Mirror that Karren is not promoting her outfits, just “giving information about them”.
They shared, “If brands use social photos of cars or take screenshots of photos from the show, they are in no way affiliated with cars or with their permission.
It does not endorse or promote any brand in any way and does not breach the BBC’s editorial policy – this has been confirmed to us by the BBC editorial policy. If it was an ad, she should make that clear in her posts.”
MailOnline has reached out to the BBC for comment.

Karren stars alongside Tim Campbell in The Apprentice as they assist Lord Alan Sugar in his search for a business partner.
She featured in Thursday night’s episode in which the contestants were tasked with organizing immersive events in Shropshire and selling tickets, booking entertainment and organizing food and drink for their guests, with the team with the biggest win winning.
But project manager Mark Moseley, who was the last contestant eliminated from the show, couldn’t make enough profit to get the job.
Karren watched unperturbed as the team negotiated during the challenge and intervened during the board call to update Lord Sugar on what REALLY happened during the challenge.
On his release since leaving the trial, Mark said: “I’m quite happy, I made the top ten and that’s the most important thing. I had a great time and met fantastic people. I’m still sad to leave, I would have liked to have got through the interview stage, but such is life.
