The Addams Family characters appeared in the magazine in 1938 and did not appear on screen until 1964 in the series of the same name. Since then, there have been many successful and frankly unsuccessful attempts to revive beloved characters: from comics and cartoons to TV shows and feature films.
The last attempt at series format before Wednesday’s phenomenal success was nearly a decade ago. In 2013, a collection of short videos called Adult Wednesday Addams was released, writes 24SMI.
The main role was played by actress Melissa Hunter, she also acted as a screenwriter. Only $10,000 was spent on making the series, hence the rather modest results.
Today, Melissa Hunter continues to act, but spends more time writing scripts for second-rate shows, series and comedies. She will not return to the role of the Addams Family character, the actress has lost interest in the project, and moreover, she became a mother in 2022.
Fortunately, Jenna Ortega has shown that Wednesday’s seat is occupied for the long haul.
