Sharon Stone has revealed she worked with “a lot of misogynists” in Hollywood, who “told her what to do” in a candid new chat.

The 64-year-old actress also opened up about the megastars she’s worked with and treated them with respect in an interview with Variety, taking the stage with Sam Smith after her surprise cameo on Saturday Night Live on January 21 .

The Emmy winner, who gave a calm, emotional performance, said Sam “trusted” her to stand up for her, unlike some of the people she’s worked with in her more than 40-year career .

She said: “I’ve worked with some of the biggest stars in the business who literally talk through my close-ups and tell me what they think they should do. They’re so misogynistic.”

The Oscar nominee was quick to point out that her Casino co-stars Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci don’t fall into that category.

This is not Robert De Niro. it’s not Joe Pesci, it’s not those guys,” she explained.

The veteran actress also described an interaction she had with the late George C. Scott, with whom she worked on 1999’s Gloria.

“He said to me, ‘I want to give you the biggest compliment I can give anybody, honey,’ and he put his hand on my face and said, ‘You’re the best listener I’ve ever worked with, except my wife.”

The surprised star said she was so touched by the compliment that she cried.

Sharon was open about how her openness may have affected her reputation in Hollywood.

“I’m not the most popular actor in town because people don’t want, as they say, my huge opinions… maybe because of my commitment, maybe because I’m just a weirdo. But I’m just here to be there.’

The versatile actress is next in the romantic drama What About Love, starring Andy Garcia.
