Edwin Eugene Aldrin (better known by his nickname Buzz Aldrin) is one of the most famous astronauts of all time. Along with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins, Buzz was part of the three-man crew of the Apollo 11 space mission, which marked the first time anyone landed on the moon. After Neil, Buzz was the second person to walk on the moon for the famous 1969 mission.

After returning from space, Buzz earned a PhD in aeronautics from MIT. Despite being a celebrity and hero after the mission, Buzz has been very open about his struggle with alcohol abuse and depression in his memoir published after the moon landing, most recently 2009’s “Magnificent Desolation” by 1978.

In addition to his contributions to science, Buzz has also become a pop culture figure, appearing on TV shows such as ’30 Rock’ and ‘Dancing With The Stars’.
