Michael Clarke and Jade Yarbrough tried to mend their relationship before a family dinner turned into a heap when it appeared the pair were ‘devastated’ rather than the public fight.
The cricketer swears black and blue that he spent time away from the younger sister of Jasmine Yarbrough, wife of TV star Karl Stefanovic, while he reportedly dated his ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards on December 17.
Sources close to the couple told the Daily Telegraph they took a break when Clarke reportedly spent time with his former fashion designer.
However, Edwards was reportedly shocked to see pictures of Clarke and Jade on a reunion holiday in the popular Queensland city a few weeks later.
Days before the couple were to exchange profanity in a wild brawl just yards from a posh Noosa restaurant, they tried to mend their relationship.
In lieu of the heated shouting match, Yarbrough is said to be “nervous and embarrassed” in Brisbane, while Clarke is “devastated”.
A source close to the cricket star says he is concerned about “the way Jade is being portrayed” after footage of the fight circulated on social media.
“He’s devastated that he put her in this position,” the source said.

On January 7, the couple went to the beach and appeared happy and relaxed as they exchanged jokes and poked fun at each other by the water.
It is understood Yarbrough then texted or spoke to Edwards after seeing a text on her friend’s phone.
On January 8, cracks appeared on the couple, who appeared tense as they sat in lounge chairs at Bell’s mansion with Clarke holding his girlfriend’s hand.
Tensions appeared to be high as a clearly irritated Yarbrough pushed the cricketer and commentator away as he followed her out of the large pool.

Tensions peaked on January 10 as the couple found company Jasmine, Stefanovic and their host Bell at the Noosa Waterfront Restaurant & Bar.
Sources say the evening escalated after the group enjoyed a round of drinks.
“They only had one glass of wine each, so this talk of a wild night is not true. They had just arrived at the restaurant and were sitting when it happened,” claims a source.
The fight broke out around 9:30 p.m., reportedly over recent text messages between Clarke and Edwards and allegations that he cheated on Yarbrough with the fashion designer less than a month ago.
The dramatic footage shows a shirtless Clarke being verbally abused and beaten by his hysterical girlfriend as others in the group try to defuse the fight.
Clarke is limping into a park surrounded by a group trying to calm the situation when an enraged Yarbrough yells at him and then punches him in the face.

The former cricketer, who reportedly suffered a hamstring injury during the incident, struggles to keep up with Yarbrough as she rages around.
‘Was I wrong? I’m damn wrong! You are a fucking liar. I can see everything You called her,” Yarbrough shouted.
Clarke tries to reassure his girlfriend that he didn’t cheat on her and swears on his young daughter’s life that he was with Bell on the night in question last month.
“Baby, you’re wrong, you’re wrong,” he insists.
“Honey, honey, Belly was in the house. I swear on my life, I swear on my life… it’s not true, it’s not true.”
But Yarbrough does not believe his protests and claims she has spoken to Pip.
“You fucking lie to me. You are a piece of shit. I was just talking to her. What is wrong with you?’ She screams.
He replied, “It’s not true, it’s not true.”

Jasmine finally enters, grabs her grieving sister’s arm and takes her away as Clarke turns his attention to Stefanovic.
“Karlos, I can tell you now, bitch, don’t go the fuck away. She can, she can hit me, but you, you bitch,” says Clarke.
In a statement to the Daily Telegraph, Clarke said he was “absolutely disappointed to have put people I care deeply about in this position”.
“My actions leading up to this altercation were nothing short of disgraceful and deplorable,” he continued.
“I am devastated that by my actions I put women of class and integrity and my friends in this situation.
“I own it fully and am the only one to blame.”
Edwards distanced himself from the saga and said “It’s not my circus”.
