“Elvis” Helmer Baz Luhrmann receives the Harold Lloyd Award at the AIS Lumiere Awards

EXCLUSIVE: elvis Filmmaker Baz Luhrmann has been nominated to receive the Advanced Imaging Society’s Harold Lloyd Award at the 2023 Lumiere Awards, which will take place on February 10 at The Beverly Hills Hotel.

Named after the iconic 20th century film star who starred in nearly 200 comedies over the course of his career – both before and after the transition from silent to talkie – the Harold Lloyd Lumiere Award recognizes excellence in filmmaking . It is presented annually in association with the Harold Lloyd family to directors who have used technology to enhance their stories.

Previous award winners include Denis Villeneuve, Martin Scorsese, Ang Lee, Jon Favreau, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Victoria Alonso, James Cameron, James Mangold and Christopher McQuarrie to name a few.

Luhrmann will be the honoree at the Advanced Imaging Society’s 13th Annual Awards Luncheon Avatar: The Way of Water Contributors James Cameron and Jon Landau, who were nominated for the Voices for the Earth Award, and Babylon Filmmaker Damien Chazelle to receive the Gene Kelly Visionary Award.
