Controversial Norwegian black metal band Taake’s February Australian tour has been cancelled.
The Bergen band has been accused of encouraging extremist rhetoric at shows, with singer Hoest taking to the stage in 2007 with a swastika painted on his chest.
Concert promoter Southern Extremities released a statement on Facebook on Friday saying the band’s 2023 tour with American rock band AKHLYS has been cancelled.

They wrote: “The upcoming TAAKE/AKHLYS tour has been canceled due to reasons beyond our control.
“Apologies to ticket holders/people wanting to see these 2 performances, you will receive an update and a full refund from your ticket company.”
Many fans were quick to express their disappointment that the shows were cancelled.

One angry follower didn’t mince words: “Gig of the decade bullshit news people. Can’t refund my flights from Perth either.’
Another disappointed fan wrote: “This is bad, I was really looking forward to this.”

They canceled their 2018 US tour after the left-wing activist group Antifa campaigned against them.
Dvir Abramovich, chairman of the Australian Anti-Defamation Commission, said Southern Extremities should never have discussed the group.
Although we welcome the cancellation, we are disappointed that the organizers have scheduled the tour. This is a victory for decency and shared values,” he told the Herald Sun.
However, the group claimed that they were “not political” and that their actions “take the pi**”.
