To understand the reason for hair loss at this time of year which is much more common, you need to know that hair goes through different phases and not all of them share or go through the same phases as each hair has its own life cycle. Those phases are 3:
-Anagen: phase in which the hair grows. The hair follicle forms a new hair shaft. 90% of the hair on the scalp is in a growth phase that lasts 2 to 6 years.
-Catagen: transitional phase of the hair growth cycle. It usually takes between 10 and 20 days.
-Telogen: It is the resting phase of the follicle and can last up to 100 days.
It is in the latter that the hair begins to fall out. At the end of this phase, the hair cycle starts again with the growth phase, the anagen. “The equinoxes (spring and autumn) are telogen phases, while the solstices (summer and winter) are anagen. For this reason, in the fall there is a seasonal hair replacement that involves a greater fall than usual, between 150 and 300 hairs per day. If we go through these three phases of hair growth and hair loss in a natural way and then we add to that the daily problems that we suffer from hair loss. The most logical thing to do is follow your hairdresser’s guidelines and do a range of tips and treatments,” explains Diana Daureo.
How to prevent hair loss? Here are some tips from the expert. Don’t miss them!
– Take care of the scalp. The scalp is where hair is born, so if it’s not cared for and clean and the follicles aren’t stimulated, we won’t have healthy hair no matter how many treatments we do.
-The importance of a good diet. The food we eat is very important, so it is recommended that at this time of year we increase the consumption of foods such as eggs as they are an important source of protein and minerals; red meat, because it is rich in iron; vegetables such as Swiss chard, because of the high amount of nutrients and minerals, flaxseed, because the high content of vitamin E acts as an antioxidant; and fruits such as kiwi or citrus, due to the presence of vitamin C.
-Do not change the products you normally use. Many people think that using new products will occur this fall, but nevertheless, since it’s a fall that all people naturally experience, it’s smart to keep using the products you use for the rest of the year. The key is to consistently perform hair care adapted to the characteristics of our hair all year round.
-Use the right products. It is important to use products that contain, as far as possible, capixyl, a natural compound of plant origin that prevents hair loss and stimulates growth.
