As a professional makeup artist, they are a #1 fan of the effect left by fake eyelashes in a makeup look for a special event, but I fully understand that they raise a lot of doubts about their weight, that they are uncomfortable or that they look very artificial. All of the above is possible, but it depends on the type of eyelash you choose to get a makeup that emphasizes the eyes, without being over the top, and also that they are applied with the right technique.
The first thing to know is that there are many types of false eyelashes on the market, and certainly if you still don’t dare to use them, it’s because some very large or striking ones come to mind.
For the taste, the colors, for those who are used to wearing false eyelashes almost daily, the size or type of eyelash will not be a problembut if you want to try it for the first time or want to learn an easier and more correct way to use them, I will explain you step by step and the details to consider so that the use of false eyelashes is very easy and comfortable .
You can choose between styles of individual lashes, i.e. they are glued one by one and thus achieve a much more natural effect on the eye, simulating almost real lashes and generating a small volume where density is needed.
The other format of eyelashes, quite well known, are the whole eyelashes where all the hairs are glued to a band. We can use them only for the outer half of the eye and extend the look with a lifting effect. There are also full lashes with fine and long bristles that make the look more expressive, without covering up the makeup shadows behind them. And finally, we find much thicker eyelashes, with thick and crossed hairs, which mark the upper part of the eye and are very noticeable.
Once you’ve chosen the style of false eyelashes you like best, measure them on your eyes to make sure they’re the right size before gluing them on and that no point is uncomfortable. Remember to cut only the outer cornersthat is, most of the eyelash, do not cut through the tip of the tear duct.
Before sticking your lashes on, curl your natural lashes with an eyelash curler to create a curve that helps them stick together better. Apply a good layer of mascara, preferably waterproof, because the curled shape of the lashes is maintained for longer. And so you get a more natural fit between the false lashes and yours.
As for the special glue for the eyelashes, make sure you are not allergic to latex, most false eyelash glues are latex based, but some people have allergic reactions to them, so before gluing them for the first time, I recommend that you do a test and apply the glue to any part of your body and leave it on for a few minutes to make sure it doesn’t bother you and you can use it on your eyes. If you can’t stand it, you can look for latex-free options that will work too.
Regardless of the type of lash glue you choose, the technique for gluing them will be the same, take the entire lash or individual lash first and apply the glue all over the band. The main trick to get them to stick well is to wait for the glue to dry a bit, don’t apply the glue, and immediately put the eyelash on your eyes. It is very important to wait for the glue to dry for a few seconds and thicken slightly so that it is easier to stick the lashes to your eyes.
Take a small mirror so you can see yourself from the lower part of your face, place the mirror at your chin level and look at your eyes from that angle. Using eyebrow tweezers, take the lash in the center and place it above your natural lashes.
I recommend gluing it from the center of the eye and if you notice a little fixation, stick it from the outer corner and finally the inner corner of the tear duct. Since the glue is almost dry, it is very easy to apply and the product will not fall into your eyes.
