Situation help: what to do when mascara gets stuck on the eyelids

In our “Help Case” section we tell you what to do in case of various beauty incidents. How to fix a broken nail, revive dried mascara or remove foundation from clothes – we will answer one question in each material. Next is a problem familiar to girls with droopy eyelids and too long eyelashes (although what kind of problems can we talk about in this case?). What should I do if mascara leaves a mark two hours after applying it?

Why does mascara press?

First, let’s understand why this happens. There may be many reasons for this, and one of the most common is eyelid ptosis. This is a feature of the eye structure in which the gaze often appears sad. In this case, dyed eyelashes may contact the skin fold covering the eyelid and leave black marks. If your lashes are naturally long, mascara can also leave marks; he stretches them even more and they begin to reach the eyelid and literally outline it.

Drooping eyelids and long eyelashes are a feature of our physiology that we cannot change. However, mascara can leave marks for other reasons.

— Improper care of the area around the eyes. If you have combination or oily skin and use a thick cream, in most cases it will make the situation worse; It reduces weight and causes increased sebum secretion. The same goes for the skin around the eyes. If you find that your skin is quickly developing an oily sheen, perhaps you should replace the cream with a lighter gel or liquid.

– Low quality mascara. This could happen too. But before you get rid of streaky mascara, try our life hacks for it.

How to prevent mascara from leaving marks?

The following life hacks can be combined with each other or used separately.

Method number 1. Choose thermal ink

It is also called moisture resistant (not to be confused with waterproof). This mascara is not rain, swimming pool, tear or sweat resistant. It has a special formula that covers the eyelashes with a thin film and does not leave any traces throughout the day. And it can be cleaned with just warm water (even without hydrophilic oil and a two-phase product).

Method number 2. Use eye primer

Eyeshadow base is like the foundation of a house; Without it, your makeup won’t last long. Therefore, if you are wearing makeup for an important event, you should definitely use it. And especially if you apply shimmery highlights and shadows. But the primer can also be used as a standalone product to eliminate dark spots from mascara. It mattifies the skin and prevents shine during the day.

Method number 3. Powder your eyelids

Another simple way to get everything you need is to apply powder to your eyelids. This should be done after dyeing your eyelashes. Your regular daily powder or clear (i.e. transparent) will do the trick.

Method number 4. Apply eye cream beforehand

First, make sure that the eye cream is suitable for you and does not leave a sticky film on your skin. In this case, even if the mascara exerts pressure, we recommend that you apply the product 30-40 minutes before make-up. By the way, this tip will also solve the problem of concealer wrinkling.

Method number 5. Be smarter

If you are not a fan of waterproof mascara, you can use it minimally. Apply your favorite mascara to your lashes and waterproof mascara to the tips.

Method number 6. Choose “nude” eyelashes

Millennials can’t imagine their makeup look without mascara, but Zoomers can easily do it. Rich black eyelashes have ceased to be a mandatory attribute, and “nude” eyelashes, on the contrary, have become a trend. Therefore, you can safely focus on your lips and not even have to think about mascara.
