Beware at the start, race: How PEOPLETALK editors traded sleep for exercise

On the morning of Sunday, May 19, the center of Moscow turned into an athletics arena where the spirit of unity reigned and thousands of people gathered for the eighth All-Russian half marathon with a synchronized start. Yes, imagine: Many people preferred running 1, 5, 10 or 21.1 kilometers early in the morning on the weekend to a sweet sleep. The The Fashion Vibes team is among them!

By the way, such a race is an international story, and this year the number of countries participating in the sports initiative reached 15. One Run participants in China (Beijing), Brazil (Brazil), Egypt (Cairo), Serbia (Belgrade), Belarus (Minsk), Bahrain (Manama), Qatar (Doha), Cameroon (Yaounde) along with all of Russia, to the starting line, UAE (Abu Dhabi), Nepal (Kathmandu), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), Armenia (Yerevan), Pakistan (Karachi), Tajikistan (Dushanbe) and Uzbekistan (Tashkent).

In general, some of us like to be into sports for any convenient reason: our editor-in-chief is into boxing, our director of online marketing enjoys equestrian sports, and the assistant editor-in-chief is crazy about “barre.” (a combination of ballet and strength training) last year. Therefore, it did not take long for us to decide to participate in the race – especially since this year The Fashion Vibes became the information partner of the start and it was much more pleasant to pass by our own banner with branded t-shirts. right in the heart of the capital.

For those who missed the last race but are now full of motivation to participate in the next race, we tell you: just choose a distance to participate (we recommend starting with 1 kilometer or 5 kilometers for those with minimal training) register on the site and further instructions follow.

It’s great that you have a team of like-minded people – mutual support personally helped us a lot and forced us not to leave everything half-way, but it doesn’t matter if suddenly there are no such people nearby. You don’t even need to prepare on your own; Special training sessions are held for all participants on weekdays and weekends in the Neskuchny Garden. And the atmosphere there is great – we personally confirm this.

As you get closer to the start, the degree of excitement increases, but you start to feel proud of yourself as soon as the participant receives the starter pack and your personal number.

It made us particularly happy. It includes non-alcoholic beer (legends say it might even be healthy, but we wouldn’t encourage anyone to do anything), an energy drink, oatmeal mix, healthy breads and bars, and a bag of potato chips. A true champion set, no less!

Of course, we cannot help but mention the start itself – preparations for it are taking place directly on Vasilievsky Spusk Square, and you will have to run through the most incredible view – passing the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Zaryadye Park and the Kremlin embankment. Other picturesque corners of the center of Moscow. When fatigue sets in, fans gathered to support participants along the entire route will give you energy and strength; You can give them a high five or just smile. Still, it’s a shame to give up on everything when you get so much attention, isn’t it?

As for us, we overcame the five-kilometer distance unexpectedly for ourselves, easily and without taking any steps – this was exactly the goal that the editors set for themselves from the very beginning, and who are we not to achieve the set standards?

The first and last kilometers proved to be the hardest, but the team spirit did not allow to give up – as a result, now everyone has a medal at home, bright memories in the camera roll and a new goal. Off to the next race. See you there!
