Summer time is a separate test for our skin. Especially for those who do not want to give up their make-up despite the cold up to +30 degrees outside the window. This year, from the first month of summer, we decided to fully arm ourselves, and therefore we asked make-up artists Olga Romanova and Zakhar Grinov about the main rules that must be followed.

The basic rules of summer makeup are lightness and shine. Indeed, overloading the skin in the hot season is the last thing we want to do. Therefore, we first set aside the heavy tonal means. However, waterproof mascara, eyebrow gel and lip gloss (you can apply it with your fingertips) will definitely work for you.

Before you begin, you need to take a sober look at the condition of the skin, because this type of make-up involves a minimum of tones and the use of correcting agents. Once you are sure that you can do without them, you can start choosing a highlighter. The reflective particles in it should be as small as possible, ideally generally invisible. To test this, apply the product to your wrist and move your hand away from yourself: all you need to see is smooth, slightly moist skin, free of pearlescent particles. A similar effect can be achieved by using both a creamy highlighter (like Sexy Glow Skin Perfector, Romanovamakeup) and a powder highlighter. The latter must be applied with a brush pre-moistened with a fixing spray or thermal water.
First step. From the outer corner of the eyebrow we draw the letter C:, draw a line along the cheekbone and bring it to the apple of the cheek.
Second step. We make small highlights on the bridge of the nose, the tip of the nose, above the upper lip, draw a line just above the chin. Don’t forget the earlobes, collarbones, and any exposed areas of the body (in this case, add liquid highlighter to your favorite lotion or cream).

Another trending technique is wet eyelids. The easiest way to recreate them is to make them regular smoky (best to blend with a pencil and then a special brush) and apply a gel on top (usually this is a makeup gel available in the professional range). brands). Don’t be afraid to “roll” into the folds – there’s some magic in that too. Of course, you can pre-apply some under the shadows, but to be honest this will hardly save the situation. To make such a make-up look clean, take your choice of mascara seriously. It should be super durable and in no case leave marks on the upper eyelids.

Continuing the sparkle theme, the glittery textures on the eyelids and inner corners of the eyes look very organic in summer. Shades can be bright – emerald, pistachio, amber. But even a white shimmery pencil on the lower inner eyelid can perfectly refresh the look.

There were a lot of light and sparkly makeup examples at the Met Gala 2023 festival, so I will share a few tips for creating a summer makeup look from my favourites.
ton

Let your skin relax a little during the hot summer months and save your heavy foundations until autumn. Instead, use a light foundation with SPF protection – BB-, CC-, a tinted moisturizer or a light foundation liquid. Apply them with a brush and then work gently with your fingertips. Such products will allow the skin to breathe and will not create the feeling of a mask on the face. If you want to use powder, choose a colorless fixing option.
blush

The best friend of summer makeup is blush. They allow you to instantly transform the look and rest the face. In the warm season, it is better to give preference to dry blush instead of cream blush, as their texture is much lighter. For example, Jennie Kim on the Met Gala red carpet showed how versatile blush can be. They can be used not only on the cheeks, but also as a shadow and light lip tint.
lip gloss or balm

In hot weather, glossy lip makeup is not only uncomfortable and useless, it can also be inappropriate. Therefore, it is better to give preference to light tinted moisturizing balms and brighteners. For example, make-up artist Billy Eilish paired the color of the gloss with the shade of the blush for her Met Gala red carpet makeover.
muscles

Many people think that in the summer you can not pay special attention to eyebrows. But often it is the eyebrows that determine how good the final makeup will look. Therefore, light shadows will not only make the eyebrows more accurate, but also “frame” the entire image. Ashley Graham follows the same rule with her flawless and graceful eyebrows.
bronzer

The secret to British actress Michaela Coel’s glow on the Met Gala red carpet is her use of a bronzer that literally rejuvenates, illuminates and accentuates her natural skin tone. For fair-skinned girls, a bronzer will be an excellent option for creating a delicate tan.
