At Least 3 Russians Hurt in Colombia Earthquake

At least three Russian nationals were injured in a magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck Colombia on August 10, according to the Telegram channel Mash.

One version of events cited by Mash suggests the Russians were stunned and cut by debris when high-rise buildings collapsed in Manizales. The dome of a cathedral there also caved in.

Tremors felt across the country

The Telegram channel Shot reported that dozens of Russians were caught up in the powerful quake. Its epicenter was in Choco province in northwestern Colombia, but tremors were felt nationwide. Russians in Bogota said the shaking nearly threw them from their beds, and that plaster fell and a staircase collapsed in neighboring buildings.

The earthquake struck at 7:34 a.m. local time on August 10.
