Under the Ukrainian night tariff structure, power consumed between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. is billed at a 50 percent discount. Standard electricity in Ukraine costs 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour, but the night rate lowers the price to 2.16 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour. Standard electricity meters do not offer any savings because they record energy consumption at a single fixed rate throughout the day.
Electricity expenses represent a major portion of domestic budgets in Ukraine, prompting residents to search for ways to reduce utility bills as rates could rise further in the future.
