Indira Ampiot (Miss France 2023): “I still don’t get it!”

INTERVIEW – Chosen as Miss France 2023 at TF1 Saturday, December 17, 18-year-old Indira Ampiot is confident in her coronation and her ambitions.

Congratulations on your title. How do you feel a few hours after your coronation?

Thank you so much. I feel very good, but still surprised. I don’t think I’m back yet. I still don’t understand! I guess a good night’s sleep will let me get off this cloud a bit.

You have been in the Misses world from a very young age, thanks to your mother, who was named Miss Guadeloupe’s First Dauphine in 1998. Is your choice a bit of revenge?

Yep, that’s it, a little bit of vengeance and there through me she’s making her dream come true. I am happy to share this with him.

How did you feel when Jean-Pierre Foucault said your name?

Then I admit I heard Poitou (laughs). But then I realized it was Guadeloupe and I thought to myself, oh but it’s me! I was very happy and pleasantly surprised. As I said there I still didn’t notice! Unbelievable.

What are the reasons that are most important to you and that you want to support as Miss France?

Helping women with cancer regain their self-confidence. This is a reason to pay tribute to my grandmother, who sadly left us this year after five cancers. And that she is a very flirtatious woman, without makeup, combing her hair, etc. I know it gives her hope, and that’s what I want to do, what I want to advocate for all women. It’s important for me

Misses is a big family. Which former Miss France inspires you?

A little bit of all because each brought something different through their personalities. So it misses a bit. After that I continued to be chauvinistic, so I inevitably admire Véronique de la Cruz, Corinne Coman and Clémence Botino, they are our models from Guadeloupe. I am happy to be able to meet them. I was able to chat with Clémence and see Corinne again. He was the one who chose me in my first election. He was a member of the jury at the time of the selection of Miss Basse-Terre.

Recently, there have been many changes at the level of the Miss France organization. How do you evaluate this year with Cindy Fabre and Alexia Laroche-Joubert?

We’re having fun so far! I take advantage of all the advantages of this very active and busy day. But anyway, I follow the rhythm. Throughout this day Cindy helped me, gave advice and followed and accompanied me. I am well surrounded.

You’re too young. Isn’t it scary to leave your island and your family for the capital?

No, it’s not too scary because in any case I had to start my communications training next year, so I had to leave my Guadeloupe and move to Paris to integrate the EFAP school. So I had already prepared myself psychologically to leave my family. But my brother is already in Paris, and my mother can also move. So I am not afraid, I am not very worried.

You dream of joining the Miss Universe. What does this contest mean to you?

What I love in this competition is representing France. It was a huge thing for me to represent Guadeloupe anyway, and it was really great. And now I have the opportunity to represent France and I can’t wait.

What would you like to say to people who think the Miss France pageant is outdated and anti-feminist?

I want to tell them that of course we adhere to our traditions, but each of us has managed to bring modernity through our personalities. And we showed it last night, we proved it. The Miss France pageant is also an advocacy for feminism because it allows us to make our voices heard on issues that are close to our hearts and that we want to defend. That’s why I think it’s important to remember that.

So what image do you want to give of Miss France?

I want to give an introductory image. For me, this is the quality a Miss France should have. It is important to thank everyone who supported, helped and encouraged us. Sharing is also very important. Meet people, visit and listen to their traditions, riches and cultures. Especially interesting for me. I can’t wait to learn everything!

What can we wish you for this year 2023?

You can wish me to take full advantage of this adventure, to discover all the French and all the riches of the different regions. I’m really looking forward to it!
