Cecily Strong became emotional on her last day Saturday night live. The actress appeared on the Weekend Update segment when her character Cathy Anne also said goodbye when she went to prison.
“Actually, I’m a little bit emo tonight because I’m actually here to say goodbye,” Strong’s Cathy Anne said, before adding that she was headed to jail.
Cathy Anne then hinted that she was doing well in prison as she already had some “friends inside and seemed to be doing well”. As she said the latter, an image of Aidy Bryant and Kate McKinnon in orange jumpsuits behind bars appeared on the screen. It was an indication that both stars were leaving SNL At the end of season 47.
“I had a good run, I mean I beat you,” Strong said as Cathy Anne pointed at Michael Che.
Cathy Anne then said: “And Colin, don’t you think I’ve forgotten you? Here’s a picture of you and me doing Update together.” It was a reminder of when Strong co-hosted “Weekend Update” with Jost in 2014.
Strong character then a bit broken as she started gagging and got a bit emotional at the end of her time SNL.
“Everybody goes to jail, right? It’s just my time now,” she said. “But I had a lot of fun here and I’m really lucky that I had so many of the best moments of my life in this place with the people I love so much.”
Che hugged Strong at the end of her play and Jost also got up to hug the outgoing star.
