James Austin Johnson returned as Donald Trump Saturday night live while the show chose the week’s most mocked subject for its cold start: the former president selling $99 digital trading cards in real life.
SNL doesn’t have to stray too far from the truth, because his satire is not only about Trump’s money addiction, but about the whole world of NFTs, where people have paid big money for things that only exist in the virtual world.
“You can also get it for free by just going online and maybe looking at it, I don’t know,” Johnson said, like Trump in the skit. “Maybe a snapshot, but we’d really appreciate it if you sent us the $99.”
Trump offered digital maps showing himself “as a cowboy.” Or I climb Biden’s ice with my big laser eyes.” He then denied that the trading cards were just a new variant of Pokemon, before introducing other depictions to the film, such as him crossing the Delaware. matrixPlay Jack and Rose titanicand as Jessica Rabbit.
Mikey Day also appeared in the sketch as Donald Trump Jr. and Cecily Strong, open as one on her last cold SNL steady play friend Kimberly Guilfoyle.
The implication was that the entire Trump family is in trouble.
“These cards are amazing,” Day said when Trump Jr. And a bargain. And I know what you’re thinking: $99 gets you two grams for it!”
trump jr then sells a Guilfoyle Christmas CD.
“I guarantee that you will sleep in heavenly peace!” Strong as Guilfoyle exclaimed, a start to her appearance at the 2020 Republican National Convention.
Trump actually videotaped his big announcement and not only presented the trading cards, but informed viewers that shoppers would also enter a drawing to win prizes, such as dinner with him. In the skit, Trump said ticket buyers could benefit from “an exclusive mystery prize where you can pick anything out of this beautiful box.” The box is obviously marked as classified.
The skit ended with Trump making a flood of awareness for his Christmas list, and began taking credit for people saying “Merry Christmas again.”
“I brought it back because Christmas is very important to Christians, and also to Jews, I think… You’ve been hearing a lot more about Merry Christmas lately, just like in A Christmas Carol. I had three ghosts with me last night, including actually four if you count Epstein. This reference to Jeffrey Epstein caused a few ooohs from the audience.
“We love Santa, don’t we? We love Santa Claus. But not Ron DeSanta. We don’t like DeSanta very much.” Towards the end his reference to avatar led to a final Merry Christmas.
It appears to be a scam. In many ways it is pic.twitter.com/jVpM7lQpdK
